How our classes work
Introduction
It is really important to continue with exercise during pregnancy to help Mum keep fit and strong. I am fully qualified and insured to train pregnant and post-natal clients and we would work in a similar way as we would at any other time. In the planning of trimester (and postnatal) specific workouts we would focus on keeping clients fit and healthy so that they reduce the chance of injury or long term effecits on their posture.
Benefits
There are many benefits from exercising both before and after your pregnancy, including:
- Quicker recovery from labour.
- Body awareness as the baby grows.
- Improvements in balance during and after labour.
- Helps prepare the body for the efforts of labour.
- Helps you prepare for carrying heavy and uneven loads, like car seats.
- Stretch and release work helps with aches and tightness as your body changes.
- Increased cardio vascular endurance.
Benefits
It is important to keep your
fitness up throughout pregnancy
What our sessions look like
Planning shorter sessions
What our sessions look like
I would plan our sessions in the same way I would for any client, mindful that it is a pre or post-natal workout, but planning on a slightly shorter 45 minute session. Our focus would be to ensure that Mum is able to build her strength up to full health once the baby is born. During our sessions we would focus on maintaining body temperatures and hydration levels throughout.
Client Testimonials
We’ve been working together for just over a year now and I’ve really seen a big impact in my game following our sessions. Sara is constantly keeping the sessions fresh and open to feedback on ways I think we might be able to get more out of them. Often, I can be overzealous with my requests which she’s very good at keeping me in check and focussed on my goals.
The weekly sessions are a welcome respite to the monotony of work & family life – Not only being a great trainer, Sara is also a fantastic listener. In between sets (which often isn’t a lot of time – @Sara hint hint), I have the chance to offload some of my life challenges. However trivial they may be, Sara always has a kind word to say or helps to rationalise.
I’d recommend reaching out to Sara to help with your health & fitness goals. She has a wealth of knowledge; and if something isn’t within her repertoire, she’ll go away and research it ready for next time.

I have just completed my first block of sessions with Sara and I am really enjoying it. I no longer live in the UK but as all training has been online recently I thought I would try virtual PT. The virtual aspect of the training has not been a problem at all. What I most like about Sara is that she asked up front what exercises I hate. She also really listens to my feedback about how I am feeling, muscle pain etc, and modifies workouts accordingly. I look forward to the sessions and because of the variety of exercises it doesn’t feel boring. Sara was recommended to me by a good friend and I would definitely recommend her to anyone. She is professional, communicative, really friendly and easy going too. I am really happy that I started working with Sara and I already feel stronger and healthier!

As an anxious and easily stressed individual, Pilates has helped me to take a breather and relax my mind. It’s the only time in the week where my mind isn’t flipping somersaults and I’m able to focus on just me! Sara has helped me to refocus on my strength and instantly helps me to relax within the first moments of a session. Starting with a full body roll down or just some basic shoulder rolls and slow breathing, I’m immediately transported to calmness. I’ve started to see such an improvement in just three months; reduced anxiety, stronger in my core and the ability to better control my breathing. So far, Pilates has been enormously refreshing and I look forward to continuing to build on my strength and working with Sara, who has been so tremendously fabulous and patient throughout!

“I have been doing Sara’s outdoor fitness classes twice weekly for about 10 weeks (via Zoom during lockdown). They are very enjoyable with a great variety of exercises. Sara is great at motivating you, so whether you are just starting out or are someone who already exercises you will benefit from her sessions. Would definitely recommend.”
Aileen, Windsor
“I never thought I’d find a class where exercise doesn’t seem a chore but Fitness in the Forest is always fun and varied. I always leave feeling energised and set up for the day. I love these sessions :)”
Niki, Windsor (Busy Mum)
“I love the Fitness in the Forest session every Friday, they are always fun, varied and challenging. I come away feeling really positive and ready for the weekend. Sara is not at all as I imagined your boot camp trainer to be, she is very knowledgeable and kind. Thank you, Sara!”

Debbie – Newly retired
“Sara is an excellent PT who is very dedicated to her work. I’ve been training with her for over 7 months and each session is thoroughly planned to suit me and my ongoing progress whilst also being mindful of pre-existing injuries. She is highly knowledgeable offering advice when asked and also flexible, regularly adjusting sessions on the spot to incorporate my toddler when necessary!”
